Running really rich!
Running really rich!
Hey guys, okay, I have a big problemo with the Edelbrock on my 84T/A. I finally timed it (P.O. had it at 45*!), and leaned it out. We turned all the way in, and then went 1 and a half turns out. Well, she wouldn't idle and instantly died. So we kept turning out until she idled. A total of 4 and a half turns later, she idled fine, but was running way too rich, could smell the exhaust. Also, getting horrible gas mileage. What could be wrong?

Well, can you keep it running with a little throttle, with one turn? If so, you might need to adjust the idle screw on the linkage.
I'm trying to remember, but I think you want to adjust the idle mixture screws togather via max vacuum off your intake.
Also, not sure how old the carb is, but if it's older you might take the idle mixture screw all the way out, and shoot some carb cleaner up in there. Carbon and gunk likes to build up in there.
