Anyone take off mechical fuel pump and put an inline electric pump?

I have an 86 camaro that use to have the LG4 in it but it now has a well built 355 with a holley 750 carb, I believe i have a holley race mechanical pump on it now but I want to start spraying nitrous on it but everyone I ask says that I shouldnt do it with a mechanical fuel pump and that I should just take it off and put an inline electric fuel pump in. Has anyone done this? what all did you do and what kind of pump are you using or should I use?

Thanks in advance everyone.

You can do it with a mechanical as long as it can put out enough volume to support the motor and juice system but most prefer to go electric.I myself chose to go electric and I am using the Holley pro series "Black" pump for four years now.I run the main line into two seperate regulators..one dedicated to carb and the other dedicated to my NX system.

So you just put the electric pump between the factory fuel line and how did you run it to 2 different regulaters? 2 lines or just 1? and where did you mount the pump at? Would you by any chance have pictures? Sorry for all the questions but thats for the help

I ran all braided line from tank to regulators and return line back.I mounted the pump behind the driver side rear seat right inline.Than I ran a BG y fuel block to split the main fuel line into two to run to the regulators. From there I ran one to the carb..the othere to the fuel noid.I have no pics and it would take me a few weeks to get some.Work two full time jobs to pay for the house and newborn. If I happen to get time to snap some I will email them to you.Otherwise any othere questions feel free to ask or email me.

Sorry, I have a couple more questions for ya, what size lines did you use? and how did you put the fuel line into the fuel tank? And how did you do a return line back into the tank?

Thanks for all the help

-6AN feed line off of the stock sending unit line from the gas tank...-8AN return line into a fitting I welded into the top of the tank next to the stock sending unit as the stock return line was a 5/16 or so..too small for my return so I had to modify.

I run the Mallory return style regulator to feed the carb..#4309 IIRC.The regulator for the juice system noid is a regular Holley style. The BG y block is from Jegs..but the Aeromotive is the same thing...and about the same price.
