what carb which direction
I have a 1984 lg4. If I ever decided to go to a non computerized carb and keep my dual snorkel air cleaner viable and fuel line stock posistioned would I go to a a aftermarket spread bore such as the 650 Holley carb deemed the perfect bolt on replacement for Quadra-jets. This will be for a mildly modified 305. Olso mechcanical or vacuum secondaries, electric choke? Olso recomendations for a 350 with 270 hp with all things considered above. Maybe send original in to be tuned by Jet Performance for the 350 but then I need a coustim chip and torque converter lock up kit right? Not to mentionen the check engine light!

The stock carb is so capable, it doesn't make sense to spend a bunch of money to replace it. Jet can help it, but their help probably isn't necessary. Most of what you need to know is in the tech article on this board (especially if your AV travel is limited).
A custom chip may help a little, but again isn't absolutely necessary. There isn't anything about a 350 that demands it - the CC carb programing just isn't that sophisticated. The performance chips put in a little more ignition advance, that's about all. You may need to alter the primary jetting to help it out, but probably not with 270 HP.
Secondary rods/hanger tuning is an assumption.
Your dual snorkel won't fit on Holley carbs (including the q-jet replacement). Sorry. Won't clear the fuel bowls.
Spend your money on exhaust first. Then cam, then possibly heads (depending upon what your 350 has).
