Yes I did. And I don't want to brag but actually got it right on the first try, and it was one of those "even impressed myself moments" lol

Thanks! I should have finished pics of it this weekend, if things go right.

Good job Karps TA, I like the sheet metal radiator hold down. I've been thinking about trying to do something similar with mine but I haven't figured out how I want to do it yet.

Thanks. The engine bay is painted in Dupont Silver something or other, can't remember what it was exactly. I think it does a good job of being unexpected, when the hood is open.

Yeah, I know it was just mock up. However I figured someone would comment on it.
As for the manifold it is actually rattled canned. I soaked it the night before in greased lightning and let it sit in there overnight. I bought two gallons of it for ten bucks. Then I washed it off and dried it out in the morning. Afterwords I took some high build automotive primer to it and then rattle canned it low gloss black with that hi-temp engine paint. It came out really nice despite what I was expecting. I just didn't want to worry about having to clean one more thing on the engine all the time as aluminum has a tendency to spot.

I suppose I can post now...

I removed the old 10SI alternators, and was about to put in the new CS144, hence the lack of alternator.

Built for a grand total of $3700, mostly cheapo summit parts and pricey machine work. Cheap as I could find for the parts. 416 heads, very ported, 1.94 hand back cut valves, 1.50 exhaust, lunati 60103 cam, 1.6 roller tip rockers, stock crank, Ohio rods, speed pro hyper flat tops, decked block..... etc.

well, I think i've got some carb tuning left to do. It kinda lugs at low speed in gear, with little or no throttle... Not sure if it's just the cams powerband, or if I can cover that by tweaking the carb. Mid and higher throttle is good but i'm going to improve it, and WOT seems awesome...

If I can get on this quickly, I might drop by the "secret drag races", at the track this friday night. Just to watch and see how the process goes. Then i'll try running it.

I wonder if I can achieve your kinda results? ...I won't hold my breath...

hey 91camarors305, did you take your tensioner apart to get that belt set up to work? I remember seeing someone on here with something like that, and he said he took the tensioner apart and fliped the spring around. I tried, but everyone at my shop was sayin it was pretty dangerous and probably wont be able to put it back together with tension.

i just bought a shorter belt and the belt has the ribbed side to the tensioner and not the smooth side.....i think it was a 5060850 i think. the tensioner wants to pull the belt to the left so thats how it keeps the tension on it, no need to flip anything around, just make sure you run the w/p, alt, and ps pump in the correct direction

oh and you need a 6 grooved 3" tensioner pulley, all thats holds it in is a bolt and that is is

Nothing special, just a generic 350 in my 1984 Bird.
Hey, Karps TA, that engine bay is more sanitary than an operating room! Looks great!

Go for it! You've more than proven your 305 builds, sounds like it's time to do it for a 383 :P

I love mine, it's not as extreme as you would probably go, but it's way more than I need to get around town. It's gonna surprise a lot of people since it's so quiet till you get on it.

well, the new 305 only has about 200miles on it and 2 passes....it's got alot left in her before i build the big motor again...i'd like some low 12's n/a and high 10's on the spray from the 305 before i take her out.

what did you end up doing for exhaust on it anyhow? i know we were talking about it but i don't remember the final decision.

my 383 will sport AFR 195's or 210's, around 10.5:1 c/r and a big solid roller. something that will run low 11's n/a...

I ended up having Total Exhaust fab me up a single 3 to dual out magna flow with custom y-pipe and no cat. It might be a little restrictive, but since I'm not worried about ET's or anything it should be fine for what I use the car for.

My 383 is 9.6 CR with ported vortec heads, a mild cam and springs to match. I think after I get a TKO in there I might look into some AFR's for the next engine modification.. as long as the rear end is holding together.

The car is definately awake now though, put the Quickfuel 750 DP with proform mainbody and mechanical secondaries on it Wednesday. I didn't know how bad my car had been wanting to go till then. I had been choking it with a 1406 edelbrock 600cfm on an out of the box "best mileage" tune. If you need the edelbrock let me know ;p

no, i don't need the edelbrock, lol! i've built my own HP holley. i'm glad you finally got a real carb on it though! i dropped .5 with the old 305 when i went from a 600cfm vacuum secondary to a 600cfm double pumper. then i put on a 650 main body and dropped another .2! i have a 750 main body and throttle blade plate that i wanna do some tweakin' with...though even with shift points above 6K, i don't know that the little 305 is gonna need that much carb. but i got it and it's a tuning tool.

i'm building an 8.5" 10 bolt for my car when i get back into town in August(well, i'll be starting on the build anyway).

between the materials and the time you'd spend making one, you'd be better off buying one for the price

Canton race products out here in CT makes em... i got mine for 90 bucks - really nice piece.
