Re: Post Your Carb'd Motor Pics

In reply to previous post, I posted the wrong photo. When I first installed 350 H.O., I was having a problem with over heating. So we were checking different setup's and bypasses to see what was going on. We went to a different water pump with a bypass to the intake and installed dual fans with 200/185 switch. Fixed the problem. Here is photo of the new setup.

Re: Post Your Carb'd Motor Pics

Nothing fancy on the outside, it's all on the inside. And I know all about the "Triangle of Death" on top of my motor, but q-jets don't backfire like Holley's do

Goodwrench 350 (4 bolt, cast crank and slugs) with World Product S/R Torquer cast iron heads (2.02/160, 170cc intake runners, 67cc chamber, 9.25 CR), Comp Cams roller tip 1.6 rockers with Crane kool nuts, Crane chromemoly pushrods, Edelbrock Performer EGR intake, the stock Q-Jet (Rebuilt and Slightly Modified by me), Accel Billitech Distributor, Accel coil, MSD 6, MSD 8.8 wires, Lunatti 06103 cam and lifters (.442/471@1.6 204/214@.050) Edelbrock double roller timing chain, Melling HV55 oil pump, Carter 80gph fuel pump, Edelbrock tubular exhaust, Dynomax ultraflow catback and AC Delco rt44 plugs. Stock 700 tranny, and stock 9 bolt with 2:77. KYB GR2 shocks and struts on all four corners. Car runs great, (no check engine light unless there is a problem) all 100% legal and gets 24mpg highway at 70 on cruise with a/c on. All put together by myself and my wife.

My favorite upgrade however is the brake job. ALL stainless hardlines, and stainless braided hoses. US Brake front calipers, new booster, master cylinder, bendix pads and DOT 5 synthetic fluid. Stops quite nicely.

A 305 with all the emissions crap still in place. The front heater hose connection has such a slow leak that I never see it drip, but there's yellow slime building up. Heater core isn't hooked up but the hoses are still there.

Re: Post Your Carb'd Motor Pics

Glad Im not the only one without 1000hrs monthly of polishing and detial work on their engine to keep it nice.

If I could afford a good rear end; it and the built trans behind it would go in my Bird. But it would ripe the guts out of the stock V6 rear, its rough as is on the 12bolt behind it now. [getting air under the left front in a 40ft land yhat wagon.]

Now ALL PLZ hold your tongue and just laugh to yourself for a good handful of new post ALL PLZ.

Anyone one with a good eye will ask, the engine was installed backwards
so it could set back farther and put the dizzy in the front.

Also the external coil plugged into the large cap HEI to run dual coils.

Searious though.
yes that is a piece of Gal pipe for a section of rad hose.
That missing middle section was used to fix the kitchen sink.
That hunk of pipe works nice and was free.

Also that is not the aircleaner the pice of paper got through.
I had a moded snorkle stockish one with a air tube ran to it from a scoop behind the grille to feed it fresh air. and paper ;(

The Day I brought her home... Then immediately started cleaning under the hood. This beast was pretty dirty. Looks good now. Plus the yellow wasn't working too well, so opted for a new set of black wires. Gotta have A/C!

Yeah I know, I always had that problem when I had a Pontiac with a 350. Everyone seems to "know" that it is the same as a Chevy 350.

Re: Post Your Carb'd Motor Pics

Starting to stray here but I had to berate autozone corp for several month till they fixed the new webiste.

Some bozo removed the engine code option when chosing parts.
As the year it was made and the car its in did have 3 engine choices
Chevy, Buick and Olds. Which makes them engine codes more important then anything when you need parts. As we all know, very little swaps.

I think that whats wrong with GM, it was better when the core brands battled it out and had their own stuff.

84 Kamp311, thats a really clean setup you have there. I'd say it probably runs as good as it looks to.

Hamaf, I'm in the process of doing the same thing with the CAI/Carb hat. What hood are you running? Is that the spectre kit?

Re: Post Your Carb'd Motor Pics

ya its spectre. my hood is a harwood fiberglass part # HRD-12101 its 3" cowl. I got a half inch plastic riser on the top of the carb because it was hitting my throttle linkage a little bit.

yes it is. I have a stock hood, fits barely. You may have to trim those support things under the hood :-) not too good at english. I think that bigger proplem(than the hood clearance) is that, low profile carb hat and high choke tower is going to restrict air flow. Not 100% sure about that though.
