Well, I am considering dumping the pos q-jet, and dropping a 600 cfm Holley or Road Demon. With elec choke of course, but the computer is a pos.

ahhhh isn't that the truth... another thing to keep in mind with a holley is the cfm size can be decreased with the size jets/shoooters (whatever u freaks call them)

you can put a 58 size jet and gain alot of fuel, or a 54 n kill alot of the fuel feed.

I swapped my jets out for e-check, ran like crap, but swapped em back after emissions

cfm is an airflow rating, and has nothing to do with jets.also, the ccc does a very good job of making minor adjustments to the af ratio, timing, ect, and it will support alot of power, with decent economy,IF you know what your doing.holleys are great...,on race cars.

Swap your carb, your going to lose your descent mileage. The only thing the computer has a bad rap for, is timing. It doesnt get that much timing in at the upper RPM's, but you can fix that a whole lot easier and cheaper than buying a new carb. The Qjet will support any amount of power your going to be getting from that 305.

fnad i'm well aware of that.. I didn't mean to put it in those words, i meant you can downsize the jets to decrease fuel, not cfm (yes i know thats what I said, sorry)

and race cars? I have one on my camaro and i hardly ever take it to the track, daily weekend driver basically... no problems with it cept that it blew a power valve (as older holleys are known to do) but taht was cause my car was running off batteries and didnt have enough juice...

other than that, no rpoblems and i had it for over 2 years with the same carb.. and my brother the person who sold it to me had it for years before that with a another holley carb, so a race car and a daily driver =]

i know holleys arent bad carbs, but to swap from the ccc to a holley(lets not forget a new distributor, and a torque converter lock up kit for the tranny if its an auto),is just a bad idea.there are guys over at montecarloss.com (and im sure here too)running 383's and so on with the factory ccc setup w/simple upgrades ,making big power, while retaining driveability, and economy.when something isnt just right, everybodys first thought is to rip out the computer, and slap a holley on it.

Keep the CC quad. If your motor feels weak, the cat is plugged and/or the ignition is weak. The stock carb flows way more then any 305 can use. How old is the O2 sensor? It's what the computer uses to tune the carb A/F ratio.
