what makes 2bbl Bog?

Hi i have a problem with my 2bbl Rochester in the Malibu(bone stock, v8 267)...
When i start it up (1 or 2 gas pedal pushes, depend how long it has not being started), if more than 2 days, it will just crank and i will have to give gas while cranking...

After it start if i dont keep my foot on gas(1/4 is enough) it will stall. After 10 sec, i'm good to let go and it will idle(yes the fast idle kicks in).

Fully warmed if i Floor it, i get a nice big bog, then you get that Bat out of hell feeling! That 267 is really slow exept at high rpm its giving all it got lol!

I can see the gas shot when i manually use the throttle...
If reved in neutral, everything is fine.
Would a simple carb cleaner bath & a rebuil kit fix my problem?

Thanks.
Yan

oh yeah also this weekend i'll be able to check my timing (lack of timing light here), because i'm going to do a Heads Gaskets job on a POS Ford T-bird ninety-something, hey! it's supercharged too, we'll have some fun on the road test after we are done.

Good chance. That and make sure the choke is adjusted properly if you have one. Also don't forget to check for ignition misfires while you're at it. Since the problem only happens under load and you seem to be getting pump shot, there's a chance your ignition is causing the bog.

yes, i did plugs so fast... I'm about to do the wires + cap & rotor... Other than that the coil will just have to hold there some more, i can still switch it with the T/A coil since that puppy is in storage.

The old plug where NICE brown a bit darker than the T/A does. I could get pic (digital Camera) but since i'm 100% sure there normal...

I tried it today and it only does it from a stop or almost stopped, when it takes the most Torque to make it move.

Normaly i dont do that but since i lost my job, i will go the cheapest route.

UPDATE: Wow my brain just worked a sec right now, i'll get my distributor from the T/A that way i'll be sure its not Ignition relatated and its cheaper this way.

I agree. Sometimes dirt and gunk build up in the passages of a carb or a piece of dirt get caught in a jet or under the needle and seat. Clean it and rebuild it and make all the idle mixture adjustments with a vacuum gauge and you should be good to go.
