That's what I paid last summer for a 4777-7, used one season. It took 2 tenths off the quarter vs. 750 VS on the 396, no other changes.

I've since put in the Proform main body, added the cool air induction and higher stall torque converter after that. Overall, it's about 1/2 second faster than it was with 750 VS, 2200 stall, and open element air cleaner.

You didn't say what you're putting this on, so whether it's right for you "depends".

That'll feed a 327 to over 6800 RPMs.

Whether it's too big depends upon the lowest RPM that you floor it.

It depends on what the list # is. There's way too many carbs that fit that general description to know for sure.

The list # is on the front of the choke tower, above the air cleaner flange, in front of the left primary barrel. It tells all there is to know about a Holley.

also dont forget that the "rating" for a carb isnt really that accurate...for example:...i dont recall the exact expression to figure out what carb is needed, but for a Stockish 350 with a shift point of 6000 only "calls" for a 600 carb....what they dont tell you is that the 600cfm rating is an average intake cfm for 1 cylinder..meaning, if ONE gulp of air the motor will take in 1000 cfm and the next cycel it doesnt take any, meaing its has a 500 cfm average, but the motor obviously needs mroe the 500 cfm..

im sure somone else can explain this a little better if this is confusing...

im using a 650DP on my carbed LT4 motor...it may be in my head, but i think they run stronger with a carb....im comparing this to the SOTP feel to my buddies 97 LT4 M6 ss...

Generally accepted rule of thumb for carb sizing is: CARB CFM = (C.I. x RPM's / 3456) x %VE

This of course is generalized and does not take into account many differentiating factors.
