Electric fuel pump mounting????

Where have you guys mounted the fuel pump?? I mounted mine between the pan hard bar and the rear end and it was a real pain. I used an aluminum bracket (weight..lol) but there was too much flex and the pump got hung up on the pan hard bar.
Any suggestions????
I'm planning on just changing to steel to mount it in the same location...
Any help would be appreciated....

i mounted mine on the spare tire well. it's a straight shot from my sumped gas tank to the filter(mounted on the rear well) then over to the spare tire indent well for the fuel pump. works well for me.

Thanks for the info...
I'm still using the stock tank although I don't know if I'll keep it or not. It doesn't look like I have any room except on the frame beside the exhaust (something I'm trying to avoid). Here is a picture of the location....

That looks dangerous..too close to moving parts for my comfort.Bottoming out could cause a problem looking at that pic.Put it behind the driver side rear seat.Make sure it is level and you are good to go.My Holley black pump has been that way for four years now without a problem.

Thanks guys.
I'll try mounting it behind the seat like you've said.
Let you know how it works out!!

i have my holley blue electric pump mounted inside the engine bay on the passenger side wheel well. WOW it is SO loud inside the car....i can here the thing buzzing all the time! it's very annoying. I even have a piece of rubber in between the pump and the well, but it does nothing. i need to relocate it to the back somewhere.

88IROC350TPI: what did you mount yours to? the side of the hatch well?

anyone have problems with hearing the pump vibrations?

Yup I just pulled up the carpet, drilled 2 holes and bolted 'er down. This same pump on my friends car was awfully loud but on my car its very very quiet due to my return line. With the return line the pump doesn't have to work as hard. With the motor on I can't hear the pump at all.

definitely hooking up the return line quiets these things down tremendously. mine was annoying to say the least until this year when i swtiched to a mallory 3 port with return line....i am MUCH happier now as well.

You need a return style fuel pressure regulator like the Mallory #4309

Re: Electric fuel pump mounting????

I have mine like 88IROC350TPI's on my 82 Trans Am. I'm working on an 82 Z28 Camaro and was looking to do something different. Wanted to weld some bungs into a new fuel tank and was looking for some ideas.
