Epoxy for those caps that leak under q-jets

Im sure most of you know about those caps the factory presses into holes they need to drill under the rochester q-jets, in between the throttle body and the bowl assembly. They leak. bad design. anyway there are the 2 big secondary ones and the 4 little ones by the primaries. Iv tried capping them with JB Weld, and the epoxy like deterieorated from the gas, turned rubbery, end fell off. I bought multi-metal PermaPoxy and used it, same thing! Iv talked to people who said this shouldnt happen but it did. Now what is the best way to fix this? Suggestions on another epoxy?

Anything you guys can tell me id appreciate. thanks!

The secret to getting the JB weld to stay is to allow it to fully cure for 2-3 days before any gas touches it. Area needs to be clean and any solvent left here may comprimise the bond.

I have also had decent luck with the glues used to repair leaking gas tanks.

Another way to get JB Weld to seal quickly, is to put it in the oven on "warm" (200°-250°, no hotter than that) for a couple of hours.

If those JB weld "caps" turn rubbery and fall off inside the engine, will that be bad? or will they just go on through?

thanks,
phil

JB welds needs to cure for days. Kmart,Murray's most store have a sealant called "Seal All" gas oil and everything else resistant. great stuff. I have a tube of it around all the time. Its kind of like PB blast, 101 uses.

Actually, I think my uncle has tyhe best stuff, he just gave me some. Its like play doe puddy stuff, hardens in 10 minutes, resists just about every nasty sounding chemical Iv heard of, and is good up to a couple hundred dergrees. He works at a Chrysler plant and they use it to repair body stamping machines. $30 a tube and i just cant remember the name, but when i talk to him ill ask and see if anyone here has heard of it.

thanks about the JB Weld though, i just didnt wait lond enough
