Carb fun??? more like trouble
ok guys recently swapped my '90 305 from TBI to Carb, felt like the right move, nothing seems more right on a v8 then four barrels. anyways, got it running today after getting all the parts around and what not, having a little trouble with timing nothing major tho, but i did have oil come out of my valve cover breathers, this isnt normal and i was wondering what might have caused it, also my oil pressure gauge dosent seem to be working, wont read anything, weve had the car idling and if the pressure was nothing i would have tied up the motor by now. One more thing, im having problems with the batt and tach wires arching onto the bracket around the coil, i have a vaccum advanced distributor off a 79 camaro, and i was wondering how to correct this arching problem, if anyone has any advice to offer please do, im kinda new to cars but i love learning as much as i can about them, specally our camaros. And there isnt a day that goes by that i dont log on here and be impressed by how well u people know ur stuff, thanks again - Jon

did you knock off the plug that goes onto the oil sender at the back of the intake? I'm thinking you just bumped that wire off the sender. It's a little to the driver's side of the block from the distributor at the back of the motor. hope this clears it up.
Problem #2....are you running a PCV valve by chance? If not you need to hook one up as they are really useful in solving the oil out of breathers problem due to blow by typically.
Hopefully I'm on the right lines with these comments...i'm sure i'll be chastised if I'm wrong, but trying to help. Carbs are new to me as well, not trying to sound like an expert.
