Help identify my holley please..

Hi,i had a box of carbs given to me today ,3 quadrajets and 1 holley.I was curious about the holley in particular and went on the holley site to try and decipher the list #3918,no mention of that number anywhere. The carb is squarebore with vacuum secondaries and manual choke, linkage appears to be vintage gm so i'm thinking this carb might have been used on late 60s'early 70s' muscle.Could someone help me out with the size and origin of this carb.Thanks.

The only carb part number i know of like that is the 3918-xx That came on the Chrysler 440's. I believe it is along the lines of Holley's 4160 version carb.

Thanks for the reply Stekman.Have you got any idea how many cfm these are supposed to flow?Must be pretty big to support a 440.Anybody have anymore info?Might actually be worth rebuilding for a future project,i seem to enjoy using obsolete(cheap)parts to go fast,(well, kinda fast..)

holley OEM carb listing

You can pretty well determine the rated cfm by measuring
the venturii diameter(s) and comparing with the carbs on the holley site numerical listing.

eg: a holley 750dp #4779 has 1-11/16" throttle plates and
4 equally sized 1-3/8" venturii.

This like should show you were to look for different model numbers. Then once you find the model or part number, they have a pdf file that has all the numbers in order with all the specks. Hope this helps..

Thanks for all the suggestions,i've down loaded the pdf file at holley and been from top to bottom, the list number isn't there.I've run into this before with odd ball holley's not being on the list(e.g. 82-85 5.0 mustangs had holleys',not on the list either)I was hoping someone out there had the holley listings book and could tell me where the carb came from,i understand the book is pretty complete.

google, its a wonderful thing

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2481619508

"I did some research on the carb itself. It’s a Holley 4160 list # 3918 date code 3 2 8 which is March 2nd 1968. Its size is 650 cfm. I contacted the Holley website with the list number (printed on the drivers side of the air horn) and they got back to me a day later. Great service. They even gave me the rebuild kit part #. Holley also told me the carb was originally on a 68 Chrysler 440 engine, which makes sense given the date code."

3918-1A 68 440 CHRYSLER
3918-2AAS 68 440 CHRYSLER
3918-3AAS 68 440 CHRYSLER
