stock carb question
I have the lg4 engine with the stock 4bbl carb. Ive taken it off to replace my intake, however there was a vacuum line running off the back and it didnt go anuwhere, I will be using the stock carb with the new intake and when i put it back on I will need to know where that hose goes to.
One more thing, I had to break the fuel line connection where the filter goes because It woould not come loose at all, my dad said he had the same problem on his old chevelle. I want to use those annodized AN fittings to put it back on, I am assuming I will have to flare the end of the fuel line that leads into the filter on the carb? What size fitting will I need and what kind?

The small vacuum line off the back of the carb base should go to the heater controls.
I've only used factory-like fittings for the fuel line, so I don't know the answer to your 2nd question.

where to the heater controls? Is there a spot on the firewall that it connects to, maybe that is why my heater seems messed up, I mean it still blows heat but not on the right setting?

It's a small hard black plastic line that goes through the firewall. It almost looks like a cable. It has a rubber "adapter" to connect to the carb vacuum nipple.

As for the fittings, I'm assuming you are reffering to the hardline adapters like those offered by Russel. Either the -AN style fittings (like those used with braided stainless line) or the tube nuts and sleeves. Are those the ones you were talking about?

Those fittings?

yes, I can use those to run into my carb, i had to break the old fuel line off but managed to save the actual piece that threads into the carb, I suppose just flaring the end of the broken fuel line and placing the nuts on it would work as well.

It would be easier to get rid of the line entirely and use an adapter in the carb fitting.

Would you want the hard line or the braided stainless line? The fittings I posted above are for the hardline, 3/8" to be specific. After you determine hard or braided line, is what you should do is find the proper size fitting for the fuel pump and the carb inlet and just run the line from one to the other with an inline fuel filter somewhere. That would be the easiest. No flaring of the factory line or whatever.

I think i maj end up just buying an aftermarkey carb. Would a dp work well and still pass emissions, or should i stick with single?

It won't mount to your stock intake manifold. You'd need either a different manifold or an adapter.
Those with sniffer-only report being able to get past emissions. Double pumper vs. vacuum secondary is more a function of application than emissions.
Seems like a lot of trouble just of fix a messed up fuel line. Unless you go racing with this car more than you drive it on the street, no aftermarket carb makes much sense.

well I just want to have a better performing car, I will get a new manifold so I want to get a new carb. I've decided to not get the new manifold and carb until after my e test. i was thinking if getting a tunnel Ram manifold and 2 carbs.
Are dual feed carbs different from double pumpers?

You aren't going to get better performance out of an aftermarket carb/distributor. Tunnelram/dual carbs are way too much for that engine - performance will suffer mightily.
Not all dual feeds are double pumpers. There are some double pumpers that aren't dual feed.

I still cant find a spot where the hose connects to? Its not a small hose, diameter wise, its bigger than the smaller ones on the front of the carb

Are you talking about something else? If so, exactly where is it located?

the vacuum line nipple on the base of the carb in the center facing the firewall, it is next to a threaded fitting like you said. But all my vacuum lines on that side of the firewallare hooked up going into one line which goes into the firewall into the cabin.
I just don't know where exactly it should go as all the lines are hooked up
