Have to ask; Out of ideas...

Cold starting problems continues....

Cap, rotor, plugwires, spark plugs changed.
Fuel filter changed.
Air filter changed.
Choke operation adjusted, and working fine.
IGnition timing rough adjusted.

Car operates just fine when hot. Starting, driving.

If cold;
I press trottle, choke blade closes, and plenty of gas are coming out of the carb, into the engine. If i do this several times, it still comes gas. This means that the carb arn`t dry....

It is still hard to cold start. Anyone expirienced this?

My starter is pretty new, but not for long.....

If you think that the carb is functioning properly, and given the other steps you've taken, I would check for any vacuum leaks. You can plug the hoses and it won't effect starting but will effect emissions. Make sure the carb is properly tightened to the manifold.

If the car starts and then dies, you should check the adjustment/operation of the vacuum break assembly. It is on the choke side of the carb and has a short vacuum line going to it. On starting the linkage should be actuated by vacuum to pull the butterfly flap open slightly. If this is misadjusted or not functioning, it could be causing your problem.

Vacuum ok.

How will too retarded base ignition timing affect cold starting?

Have not found the elektric plug, that deaktivates the elektronic timing adjustment. Therefor i`m not sure how to adjust my ignition timing properly.

The plug you seek is a 4 prong weatherpack connector on the back of the distributor. That is the ESC plug you need to unhook in order to set the timing.

The connector is not easy to find, because it is connected to the wires that come out of the back of the distributor. Follow the wires that exit out the back of the distributor bowel. The connector is just a few inches away, lying on the extreme rear of the engine/ extreme front of the bell housing, under a mess of wires and tubes.
Start the engine. Warm it up. Unplug the connector. The little module inside the distributor will, within one minute, realize that the computer is no longer running the show. Then the engine will magically begin to run smoothly. Adjust the timing without catching the timing gun wires in the fan.
Clean the timing marks beforehand. Highlight the line on the flywheel with some white paint or typewriter correction fluid.
After adjustment, reconnect the wires.
The timing marks are not easy to see. Good luck.

Thanks.

The good thing is that i`m learning stuff about my car nearly every day.
This forum helps alot! Less anger and frustration.

Well, well. Cold starting is very important here in northern norway. Temperatures is starting to drop below zero. It`s getting colder now. In october, the snow will come. I`m now looking for winter tires to my Z28.....

Here in New York City, we will not see temps below freezing until December. Snow will not rear its annoying self until the very end of the year. Sometimes we get away without snow. Very unpredictable.
But in Florida...............................
