what intake Vs hood clearence
i have a 86 z28 and i have the stock gm intake still on the car altho i do have the edelbrock performer 600 cfm carb. i want to get a new intake but what will still fit under my hood right now i have the stock intake an addapter and the carb then free air cleaner and i have like 4 mm of clearence. so what will fit under there and what do others have.

I run a Weiand 8000 and holley 6210 spbr dp with dual snorkel air cleaner and have minimal hood clearance but it fits

An Edelbrock Torker is a fairly hi-rise manifold, and I've seen one with a Holley DP and 14" air cleaner fit under the stock hood.

Get a rpm manifold or other dual plane with a square bore carb flange then you can lose the adapter your using to mount your square bore carb on that spread bore manifold.
Now is that confusing or what
I ran a edelbrock rpm manifold with the edelbrock carb and had just enough room to fit it all under.

i'd pass on the performer unless it's a performer RPM, not much of a gain for $80. might as well save up another $20 and buy a RPM intake off ebay and get a much larger gain in power. my

if you did not notice i am from canada and for one i hate ebay due to i have had friends who get ripped off on there so i don't take the chance due to i am a student and don't have much money for two they are all american funds so really 100$ american is 160$ canadian funds then i have to pay duty and shipping which would bring it up around 200 in which i can buy a new performer for 200 here. sorry to sound like an jerk but i didn't mean to

Hey fbody if you can find a brokerage house on the states side of your nearest border crossing it makes it a lot easier. All the parts for my 383 build up that im gathering now are all from ebay and ive saved a tonn of money. Then i just scoot across the border and pick em all up and bring em back myself.Just make up some cheesy receipt to show em at the crossing

Oh yeah, I gotcha, its definately taller than stock. As far as aftermarkets go though, its got decent clearance. And of course, everyone will say that its a piece. To tell you the truth, it seems to work pretty good to me.

It doesn't have any of the problems or quirks that people typically associate with a single plane intake... "no low end" "runs rough at idle" "kill gas mileage"
Yea right....
