I wanna know how I can stop this from happening and while Im at it how to preformace tune it, for a lightly moded 305.
Thanx.

hey hey hey.... lets not dog on the 3rd gen members here. The dude wasnt saying carbs are gay, he is saying that the fact that it is not working is gay, another way of saying its something he doesnt like. Keep the thread alive, dont flame it and help out another 3rd gen driver.

Wow, some people need to learn how to keep up with modern day slang around here. Relax guys, just because you use certain words to describe a situation, doesn't mean you are immature. It's just like dropping the F bomb, which I'm sure many of you have done yourselve's in the past when being upset with your car.
Check the A.V. tension like suggested above.

I object to homosexuals highjacking the formerly perfectly fine word "gay".
But, on a technical note...
I really object to people's disparaging opinion of the quadrajet when they haven't even attempted to understand it. The answer to most q-jet problems is typically a simple two-step process:
1) Tune up the ignition.
2) Adjust the q-jet.

But technically, as Five7 said, You can usually tell a persons experience by thier vocabulary. Things like quadrajunk, quadrabog, etc.

Well, I've got a Holley on one car, a CC q-jet on another, a manual q-jet on the horse trailer tow vehicle. They all have their place.
I haven't had a problem with q-jet bog because I've known since about 1973 how to adjust the AV tension. I didn't appreciate the importance of the choke pull-off in that process until about 5 years ago. You need both - AV tension adjustment and choke pull-off properly operating. If this condition has developed recently, I'd check the pull-off first.
I replaced the Edelbrock Performer q-jet with the Holley on the 396 because the AV didn't open consistently - always had a gritty feel to its motion - and inconsistent AV opening isn't a good thing in a bracket racer. Supposedly, Edelbrock "fixed" all of the problems Rochester never did. I didn't see it. I sold it for $75 at a swap meet this spring. The Holley has served very well, was fairly simple to set up for what I'm doing, and has been much more consistent.
I haven't had a single problem with the CC q-jet on the Camaro. I even raced it for one season, and it was reasonably dependable. If I was racing it now, I'd make a lot of changes, but not to the q-jet (assuming I was also driving it daily as I am now).

i'll concede that whoever made the f-ing gay comment was well, below a high IQ (i say this in hopes of not offending stupid people....my apologies), my point is to simply that the uproar because he called his carberator gay is unneccasary.
There was no uproar, just the statement that this is an adult forum, and that juvenile statements like that will get you no help whatsoever. This isnt about being politically correct its about being an adult. You should treat everyone here with respect, then there wouldnt be problems like this. Besides, this is way off topic.

Yeah, I hear it all the time too. Most of these guys are under the impression that if it isnt holley its junk. Personally I would take a Qjet or edelbrock over a holley any day. For my daily driver anyway.
