Carb Trouble

Carb guys, I need some serious help. I have a 350 small block in my 82 TA. I have a Holley 600 cfm carb and an HEI Accel distributor/coil. We fired up the car for the first time last night and adjusted the carb and timing to 0 btdc just to get things working. We were able to drive the car and things seemed fine. We took it home and shut it off.

Now today, the car will not start and just backfires. We tried adjusting the distributor but it did not help. All I got was a ton of backfire. What could have possibly changed after simply shutting the car off? Does this seem like a timing issue or a carb issue? Anyone have any ideas?? Please?

I kinda figured....but nothing has changed since last night. My float levels seemed to be fine and we set the idle close on the carb. Would the electric choke have anything to do with it?

Probably not, but I have had electric chokes stick closed out of the blue before which made my car not want to start. It is pretty easy to rule that out. Just write down the position of the choke housing, loosen the screws and turn the housing so there is no tension, and then see if it helps any. If not return it to the previous setting.
