Making cc q-jet wiring/vaccum look acceptable!!!
Hi there.
I have an 87 camaro with the original GM cc q-jet. I am swapping the 305 to a 350 but i have been persuaded into leaving the cc q-jet for now. I cannot stand the mess of wires, one ways valves, and vaccum lines strewn across the engine compartment in the stock set up. I would like to rerun the wiring away from my valve covers and intake manifold as well as clean up the spider web of vaccum lines. I have deleted both smog and EGR. I can get pics up tommorow..... any whlp would be appreciated!

Do you mean, "Any welp would be appreciated?" If so, here I am!
You can eliminate some vacuum lines with the removal of EGR and (I assume you mean) A.I.R., obviously. That canister control valve in front of the carb could be moved closer to the canister by running longer lines over there, getting it out of the way.
Wiring would be a matter of unbundling the harnesses, running longer wires as required, and rebundling.

between the carb and the charcol canister there is a mass of one way valves... what needs to stay/go in these vacuum lines. It is where most of the my uglyness comes from!

How about EFE? With headers, mine is gone. Without A.I.R. or EFE, I was able to eliminate one TVS on the thermostat housing, as well as a vacuum tee shared with the PCV valve.
Does your car still have the vacuum diagram on it? By crossing out what isn't there anymore, you can see what isn't needed anymore.
I think I eliminated 2 check valves. I intended to reroute the canister control valve, but the swap project took so much longer than I had anticipated that I didn't bother. Yet.

"Early Fuel Evaporation". AKA "heat riser valve". Between the passenger side exhaust manifold and y-pipe.

I got rid of the EFE, plus just recently removed the Cruise control. That took care of some more vacuum lines and wires. I also zip-tied the massive, ugly canister control valve to the radiator hose to keep it from just hanging in mid-air. I'd think twice about moving it toward the charcoal canister simply because you're adding more (longer) vacuum lines. Just more spots for problems IMO.

How are you guys getting rid of the EFE valve? - I tried, but my Y-pope didn't fit back up right to the header as I recall.....
I still have mine, just using it as a spacer. I bashed the butterfly valve out of it! hehe.
