Carborator change
Hey there everyone. This is my first post here and hope i can get some information. From what i have seen here it is going to be my best bet. I have a 1984 camaro z28 that is missing a few parts. The main is the feedback carborator and the distrubitor parts like the weights and the springs along with the cap and coil. I went to a junkyard thinking that well there are only 2 different hei style distrubitors the coil on cap and the remote coil. I found a van with one in it and snagged it up and well for some reason under the cap is different. So is there a way i can get that one to work or do i need to find a new one somewhere. I will have to get you more info on the differences if you would like. The carborator is the feedback style and it is completely missing and i cant find one. Is there a simple solution that i could just get a qjet and put that on there and not hook up all the sensors and the vacuum lines and get rid of that mess or should i keep my mind set on the feedback style. Thanks for the help Robert

You can find another computer controlled carb and use it with the computer and original distributor (which doesn't have weights and springs, by the way), or you can use a non-computer controlled carb and use it with a conventional distributor with mechanical and vacuum advance.

Welcome aboard.
Actually, your only choice is a computer controlled carb. You won't pass emissions inspection with a non-computer controlled carb.

Where is my best bet to find the emissions controlled carb and the parts for the distrubitor? The junk yards so far arent too much luck and i really dont care about emissions.

You don't have much choice but to care about emissions if you want to register it in Denver. If you've got some way around that, then never mind.
There is a Classifieds forum on this board. Try searching what's being offered, or posting a wanted. You can also get one from the chain parts stores, but you'd have to add the core charge to the price, since you won't have one to turn in.

I dont have a way around emissions. The car is going to go to new mexico where emissions are no such thing. Run what you brung. I just wanted to get the car running just to hear run the easy way with not a whole lot of headache. I have looked on ebay some and saw those carbs for anywhere like $80 to $250 dollars. I guess for the distrubitor i could go to the parts stores to get that but the carb is my main holdup.
