Best carb for this setup?
sbc 350 stroked to 400....bored 30 over for a 406
.200" dome on the pistons
possible Comp XE268H cam 225-230 @ .050 high 400's/low 500's lift
with at set of 76cc heads....the CR would be 10.4:1
This is going into an 81 vette, so there is a clearance issue, what carb/intake would be best for drivability but wont choke the motor AND still fit under stock hood, this wont be an all out race car, it will see moderate racing.
Thanks.

Okay, some things are not adding up.
A 350 that's stroked to 400, and then bored .030" over, is not going to end up as a 406.
Exactly what 76c chamber heads do you have?
If you keep that Torker II intake manifold, then a 350, or 383, or 406, will only need about a 650 CFM carb, regardless of what else you do. If you get a real intake manifold, and clear up exactly what size this engine is going to be, then we can take a WAG at what carb to put on it. Also need to know if intend to keep your current converter.

This isnt my motor, it's a motor going into a firend car, he is looking to buy the short block, those numbers are what he advertises. Also, there is no intake nor carb yet, so that is the purpose of the question
BTW: I got a Performer manifold put on last week, so you wont have to badger me about the bad choice in all my threads any more
EDIT: I guess it's 40 over... Also, there is not converter yet, that will come later

I made some assumptions, such as this was your engine, and of course once again when you assume, it makes an "a$$" out of "u" & "me".
It's "the package" that really counts. So, what heads, what displacement, what stall, are all part of the equation. If we can "assume" that this is actually a 388, and that the heads are really performance parts and not 882's, and that the intake will flow properly and match the cam powerband, and that the stall will match the cam and intake powerband, then we can talk seriously about a good carb to go onto it.
(Glad to hear you got the intake changed. Now change your sig...

but it's ok, i've assumed too many things, so i cant be a hippocrite...We will work out the correct block and get the head specs then get back to you

Maybe use the Torker II on the Vette. Limited hood clearance is about the only reason I could ever see wanting to use one of those things.

my motor sounds kinda similar except mine isnt stroked and mine has vortec heads.....its just a 350 bored .030 over i.e. 355....and i have a performer RPM intake and a holley 670 street avenger and i like it....i had a 600 edelbrock on there b4 and i gained a tenth from just doing the carb swap with NO tuning to the carb yet....so i would go for nothing less than 650cfm.......good luck!

Dont even think about using the torker II intake on that vette. You can fit the Performer RPM air gap under the stock hood. I would know since thats What I got under my stock hood on my 79. You just need to use a 14" drop base air cleaner and a 2 3/4" X 14 air filter. You might need to do a little "massaging" of the lower base depending on what carb you decide to go with. I needed to pound in a little section to fit the electric choke on my carb.

I have a 650 speed demon on my stroker, and my stroker is very stout, the only thing I had to do with it was change the squirters to 35 in the front and 37 in the rear. The throttle response is killer and it pulls great all the way up to 5500 (I don't think I've ever spun it past that), you could always go bigger but if its for the street you will kill the fun of it, oh and the intake is a rpm air gap vortec
