broken rochester vacumn control
i hope someone can help, the vacumn control on my 87 is broken j(jb welded by a previous owner).is there any internal springs or valves in it that would affect performance ? it doesnt appear to have a vacumn leak but you can move the vacumn line where it attachs to the box.can the vacumn control be elimimnated?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "vacuum control".
A better description, please.

that is similar but the one in question i have usually seen mounted near the carb one of the ports is a long smaller diameter port this is the one that somone repaired(if you can call it that).another question if i might,i want to eventually replace the carb and manifold with a non computer controlled edelbrock carb and manifold 500 -550 cfm i realize i will need to replace the distributor with a vacumn advance one and a different coil,my question is what is involved with the transmission lockup ?is it necessary to do this ?what are the consequences if i dont?

Necessary? Only if you consider burning out the 3-4 clutch pack an unacceptable consequence.
The Tranny forum has plenty of info about that. It's also been discussed here. A search on "TCC" should get you what you're looking for.
