what?
your q-jet is running rich? cc qjet?
you'll need to tune it up and rebuild it. I didn't get much info from your post, so what has been done here?
also, stock engine underneath?

not stock
carb probably only has 3k miles on it, over a 350 with weiand intake, lunati cam, hooker headers
it was running rich, took it to a mechanic, he leaned it out (he said, and said i would have trouble with it in the winter because it has basically no choke now) the dude is no longer with that garage, and true to his word, it seemed leaner but won't start for shizzle in the cold, have to pump the gas, then hold it to the floor, until warms up
what i would like is some way to tune the carb back to a more versatile point, working whether it is hot or cold....
i live in indiana, and have no emissions check, so that doesn't matter

Get yourself a $30 carb rebuild kit, a $10 float, a $15 can of dip-type carb cleaner, and if you don't have an air compressor also get a couple of cans of spray carb cleaner to blow out passages after the dip cleaning.
Go through the carb, epoxy over the well plugs if they aren't already (
for details), put it back together per the instructions in the kit.

a mechanic tuned your carb, and you lost your choke feature? (I guess he used that to help tune it somehow...?)
I wouldn't trust that guys knowledge of q-jets then....
Yea, rebuild it yourself, with instructions that come in the box, search on this site for info on rebuilding, then if you're REALLY stuck, post again
