Carb Linkage and Regulator Mounting
Working on switching from Factory TPI 350 to a custom combo 383 Carb Motor.
I have it in the car, but I have several problems.
First: I'm running a Speed Demon, so the Holley Carb Bracket does not fit. The little tab on the front of it that's suppose to grasp about the ear base plate does not work on a demon. I bent it flat to make it fit, but now it wants to pivot a little bit. I've read some members drill and mount a bolt onto a threaded hole on the intake, but obviously the Victor Jr does not have that. Opinions on fixing it? I'm leaning towards scribing the outline of the base on the bracket and taking it to the welding shop for them to put a small bead on the outside edge of that.
Second problem: The Holley bracket has some slack on the throttle cable once in place. Is that normal?
Third: Notice from the pic my throttle cable is very long. Will I have a problem using the S turn I have currently? So far the TV cable from the TPI looks like it's working right.
Fourth: I reused the clip that was on my 350 TB. It spins a little bit. Is that normal?
Fifth: I plan on mounting the regulator onto the driverside below the area the old cruise control unit went. How did everyone handle the routing of there feed line to the fuel log? I found some hose clips that I could fasten the hose down, but I don't exactly how I want to run it yet.

Have you considered the bracketry from Bow Tie Overdrives? That's what I used to hook up my Holley's throttle cable and tv cable. You contact them to let them know what carb you are using and they will set you up. It is a little pricey, but it does work perfectly.

Is that the TV Made EZ system? For that they recommend you put in a new spring in the valve body and I don't want to go to that effort.

Yes, that is it, however, that spring you are putting in is not hard to get at, at all. You have pull the pan down and it is right there to get at and their instructions are very explicit on how to change it. I understand your reluctancy to do this since I felt the same way, but it wasn't bad at all.

As for the throttle cable I would get a carb throttle cable. My buddy used his TPI cable and ended up using three carb return springs to get the throttle to return to idle.

I'm using the tpi cable with one spring and have no problems. I mounted my regulator to the bracket that used to be for a/c. That way I could use the stock hoses.

I mounted my regulator under the bolt that hold the corner of the washer bottle in place. I put the bolt up from under fender, then put the pressure reg on it, then put a nut on it, then put the bottle on, then put on another nut - made a bolt into a stud basically - and the fuel lines where right there.
