Well, it really depends upon why it's running too rich. It could be a weak O2 sensor, improperly adjusted carb, float set improperly or fuel-soaked float, leaking well plugs, mixture control solenoid inoperative, etc., etc., etc.
Is your SES light coming on? If so, have you checked the trouble code(s) being set?

Axle/Gears: stock
well i just installed a brand new o2 sensor...........
and i dont have no check engine light or anything............
the carb used to be on a 305 and now its on a 350.............

Well, you may have eliminated one possibility. I should also have added improper timing/ignition.
