Pre 87 Intake on 87 and up

What needs to be done to the intake to bolt it right up? I thought that I remember reading that you have to elongate a few holes.

Thanks

Bill

well if youre wanting carb on a FI engine then you can just get a carb intake off an 87 or 88 caprice impala firebird camaro

stock factory

but yes the 4 middle holes changed angle for 87

there is a kit on summit that may make it easier...it has the angled inserts and bolts for ease of installation.

Is the kit that you are talking about? It says holley. Will it work with an Edelbrock intake? Just wondering if you knew. Thanks

minor machining, i wish that i would have just oval'd the holes instead of cutting the intake clike they suggested in the instructions. but the intake torqued just fine and it sealed great. it was actually much easier to install this intake than the tpi one. because the bolts mount at, lets say, a 45 degree angle on the older intakes, you would just need to expand the holes to make a bolt go through them at a more straight up and down angle. just holding the bolts above the intake, at the right angle, you can tell how much metal needs to be removed. it wasnt that much at all

the hardest part was just holding the intake because i didnt want to scratch it up

Would modifying the 4 center holes cause any type of leaks?

this is a simple one take your drill and bit 9/16 or one size up dont remember start by drilling the hole at the normal angle back it out increase angle and repeat it will be mildly thin on the outside edge ive even seen it break dont worry thats what washers are for
