Broken carb!!!!!!!

I searched for this and couldn't really get a good settling answer!

I let a buddy use one of my Edelbrock Performer Series #1406 and he hooked it straight up to his stock fuel system for a 2.8L multi-port fuel injection Well then I tried to use it after I got it back and my car wouldn't stay running. So I pulled it off and rebuilt it and it was still doing the same thing So I just threw another one on that I had and put that one on the bench. I do have the Mallory 3-port regualtor running 5psi, so I know it's not a pressure issue any longer. Could the fuel pressure from the 2.8L have ruined like the plunger or something? (cause that didn't come with the rebuild kit, so I didn't replace it)

Any information is appreciated!

Did you check the float height and drop when you rebuilt it?

Yes I set both of them to what the rebuild instructions suggested. When I pulled the carb apart to rebuild it, there was a lot of this clear jelly looking crap in both fuel bowls, not sure what it was so i just cleaned all the tarnishing and all that junk out of there. Replaced everything the kit came with! And it was still a no go!
