what carb should i get
what carb should i get
I have a 1989 Iroc Z. it is a 5 speed it had the L98 motor til it dropped a valve and went through the piston and killed the passenger side head. well im swapping to CARB motor..im gettin a 350 and gonna rebuild it to a 355. what carb should i use? or what type of carb should i get..
Re: what carb should i get
When set up correctly. The DP can be a good running carb with crisp throttle responce. And, you can get decent gas milage out of them depending on how the motor is built. They wont use any more gas then other carbs of similar size.
Re: what carb should i get
well my motor is gonna be just a old 350 that i havent got yet and i got a .030 rebuild kit for one so it will be a 355 and it will have a pretty much stock cam i guess cuz it came wtih the kit..il have a edelbrock performer intake on it and HEI distributor..maybe later on roller rockers and a bigger cam and heads but for now it will be pretty much a stock 350 bored 30 over.... what im wondering is why couldnt i use a regualr holley 600 carb with my manual tranny and not a DP? what makes the DP better for 5speed use?

When you let off the throttle on a shift the secondaries close on a VS carb and take a while to re-open as opposed to a DP's instant opening.

At the top of the page it says "enter your CID" from their it can help you pick the right carb.
From my personal experience a person needs to decide what they are gonna do with the car before they start buying any speed parts
eg. if your going to use nitrous, cut the weight of the car drastically, use a stick shift, or go with forced induction a 4150 would be better than the 4160, but I'm sure not going to knock the 4160, most guys do but they don't understand the guidelines of when one is nessacary.
