av linkage tab [cfm]

I'm putting in the the gm performance 330 ho with a performer intake and a stock factory rebuilt quadrajet. It has dr rods and a b hanger. Do I have to file tab for more cfm to make this set up to work properly. My mechanic is ripping me saying this carb will run lean and damage my engine. I keep saying the carb is very capable.

Your Qjet most likely will have the tab preventing the secondary air valve from opening fully.

so it necessary with my forthcoming set up and will the carb be good enough. It was for the the zz4 conversion, leading to me to tell my mechcanic not to worry.

You could file it off to get more air through the secondaries, or you could leave it alone if you want. It's not going to hurt anything either way.
