air filter
I have a Edelbrock preformer intake and Edelbrock Avenager 600 CFM carb. I know I need a drop base Airfilter but I'm not sure what one. Jegs' tech people wern't much help. I just don't want to but the wrong one. thanks-Matt.
Re: air filter
I'm running a 14x3 K&N element with a Performer RPM intake (which is higher than a plain Performer), and running a 1.5" drop base without any clearance issues on a Camaro.
Looks like you are running a 305 which means you could stick with the stock element (12"x2.5"), and run a 0.5" drop base without any problems. If you want to go with a 14x3 element, then a 1" drop base would be safer.

Re: air filter
Thanks man, I bought the car with a 650 Holley dp. It was filled up with rust from the bad fuel tank. I replaced the tank, manifold(it was stock), and carb(new fuel lines, filter...ect). Not i just have to finish what i started. I have also have a few problems with getting the correct brackets for this combo but i think i have solved that.

I've heard that too much of a drop in the base will interfere with the carb any ideas? my carb is manual choke by the way Senior Member

Re: air filter
Forgot about that...if you have a Edelbrock Performer carb, there might be clearance issues for the fuel inlet on the smaller 12" dia. drop base, but should be fine with the 14" unit.
FYI - I'm running a pre-1974 modified QJet carb without any clearance issues with the 1.5" drop base.
