carb clicking?

okay, just hooked up power to my car for the first time after engine swap (stock 305tpi engine, but my lg4's carb and manifold) ...put key in, and when i turned it to "on" (not "start") i heard a clicking coming from the engine bay, my dad thought it was the starter at first (it wasn't that works fine) i found the clicking coming from the carb...pushed the secondarys open with my finger and it stopped...couldn't get it to do it again (yet anyway) but i was wondering why that would happen?

edit: ok, so i shoulda searched first :P mixture control solenoid...anyway, still don't understand why it stopped ..i read thats bad, *but* i havn't started the car yet, so is there hope? :P

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: carb clicking?

It stopped because the car wasn't running, and the ECM realized it wasn't about to any time soon, so it just stops and just sits there and waits for something to happen.

It is all completely normal.

I'm not going to jump into the "hope' thing; but go ahead and start the car, and see what it does.
