tbi to carborator

i have an 85 monte carlo with a 4.3 litre v6 with throttle body injection. I found a carborated 305 v8 from an 88 monte carlo and i was wondering if it would work. i keep hearing stuff about changing the harness and computer but i thought carborated engines dont need computers. can somebody with experience please help me? do i need a computer? and if i do where can i get one? thanks

Computer controlled carburetors first started showing up around 1980-81. They continued until the end.

From 1981-1987, at least, every U.S. delivered GM carbureted passenger car was computer controlled.

Re: tbi to carborator

ok so you want to swap a 305 from an 88 CAMARO into your 85 CAMARO? If you are going carbed it would probably be easiest to run a non-cc carb and dist, aka a vac advance dist.

I see "monte carlo", but no mention of "Camaro".

He said a 305 from an 88 Monte Carlo. Weren't 88 Monte Carlo's fuel injected in 88? Correct me if I'm wrong or it's not an 88 Monte Carlo.

I'm not sure of details, but I believe G-bodies got carbs one year later than f-bodies. Kind of a swan song.

As for 3rd gen only, if it can be considered 3rd gen related, it will be allowed. I haven't made up my mind on this one yet.
