Will a Manual trans Q-jet work on a Auto?
I was just wondering if a Computer controlled Q-jet suitable for a 83 t/a that is for a manual transmission will work on a Auto? would i need to swap parts like the throttle lever? without dismantleing the carb? or is it a no go?
Thanks.
Thanks.

i belive all qjets were the same as in no difference between an auto trans and manual trans you will need a tv cable that attches to the carb from the trannie and possibly a few vacuum lines but i think it should work

I doubt it's going to have the kickdown cable stud or stud arm for the trans cable on the throttle. If it doesn't, adding it isn't simple. You have to remove the throttle shaft from an auto trans carb and install it in your carb. That means removing, among other things, the throttle plates with their mashed-in retaining screws. Not to be undertaken lightly.

Yes it will work. I had a replacment that came from a 5spd car and all I had to do was unblolt the stud from my old auto one and bolt it into the new one from the manual.

The reason I say it won't is if it's a FACTORY QJet. The factory carbs that were used on manual trans cars didn't have the kickdown stud OR THE ARM THAT THE STUD BOLTS TO. There's simply nothing there to bolt a stud onto, let alone the stud itself. And the factory didn't use bolt-on trans cable studs, either. The stud is welded or otherwise permanently affixed to the throttle arm.
"Rebuilt" carbs and such could be a different story.
