Re: Can't get Air Gap intake to seal
Yep.
This maybe not work for everyone (or anyone) but it worked for me:
1. Purchased Procomp gaskets that were around 0.100" thick.
2. Sprayed gaskets with copper adhesive spray
3. Put a small bead of semi hardening sealant around each intake port
4. Put water passage sealant on the coolant passages
5. Ran a thick bead of RTV sealant across the china walls and corners
6. Placed the gaskets on the heads and pressed lightly to get them to stay in place.
7. Put water sealant on top of gaskets for coolant passages
8. Put another thing layer of semi hardening sealant on intake ports of gaskets.
9. Let sit for 3 minutes, and then placed the intake on top.
10. Lined up all the bolts and put them in loose with water sealant on the front bolts, rtv on the midddles, and water sealant on the rears and tighten to 5ftlb.
Left for 3 hours, then tightened down in sequence to 20ftlb.
Now have 40-50kpa on the MAP at idle, and a steady and solid 15"hg vacuum gauage reading
I'll probably be screwed if I ever have to take it off again, but for now I'm happy.
