Engine dying off idle

First off, I'll admit i dont know much about carbs. On to the problem

Crank it and with it idling, it'll run and not die.

You can punch it and it'll get up in the high RPMs just fine, But, If you give it any certain amount of gas, and keep it STEADY. The rpms will react accordingly, then theyll gradually fall down and the engine will die (all within about 3 to 4 seconds)

When it starts to die, at anytime u can punch it and itll rev right up with no choking, no surging, no problems.

Feels like ur gradually letting off the gas and when it gets to idle speed it just dies (know thats not what its doing, just trying to explain best i can what it feels like)

Any SES light when this happens?

Is the accelerator pump squirting?

Can you hear the mixture control solenoid clicking?
