Strange problem, need help soon!!
(Background)
OK I bought a rebuilt Carb from National carburetors. Put it on and ran like poo, brought to the mechanic and he said Mixture control was defective. So I sent it back for its warranty work. Got it back and the MC is wrking, I hear it clicking. I dont have time to take it to the emchanic, need the car tommoorow.
Here is the problem.........
The car shutters bad at idle..drive it and shutters all the way to 3k rpm...after 3k rpm there is NOTHING the car just revs and goes no faster, almost like tis in neutral or something.
It feels like there is a HUGE cam in the car all the time, not good.
I thought it was the choke vaccum line becasue that had a hole in it once and felt the same, but it looks fine.

I believe your not getting the responses your looking for because some of the needed information is still lacking. Just want to confirm first, was the engine acting in the same manner before the purchase of the carburetor, or did this all just start happening after you installed the rebuilt carburetor?
For it to be shuttering like that down low, then to rev up like that as if it were in neutral, this would have me suspect a faulty torque converter. Disconnect the fuse for the ECM control down in the fuse panel, eliminating the tranny's 12-volt lock up source, then start the car to see if the shuttering goes away. The engine will still idle with the ECM disconnected, this is just to see if the problem is a faulty locking converter....

Ok, I did adjust the TV cable. I read the article on how to do it, but to be sure is this how it is done.
Hold the button, push that thing that pops out all the way in, let go of the button, then go WOT. I heard one click, or clunk.
I jsut got back from my mechanic, he could only take a test drive and look under the hood quick.
He told me it seems to be an engine problem becasue there is a strong smell of gas.
HE said it looked like there were some wires touching hte exhuast manifold, so Iwill be checking those out when the ending cools down, I opened the hood and put a fan on so it should be cool in a few minutes.

Re: Strange problem, need help soon!!
This doesn't sound like a carb problem to me.... This sounds more like a tranny problem... or a severe engine problem

It better not be severe I need the car tomorrow!!
I have an extra set of ignition wires, I hope one of the wires are fried, that would make the solution easy, but I doubt its that simple, it never is!!!!

Re: Strange problem, need help soon!!
ok so know my mechanic tells me the carb has a bad float, and a couple other problems. So now it has to go back to national carburetors AGAIN for warranty work. THis is the second time. How do I know this wont happen again when I get it back?? THis is really annoying.
