Manual Choke for Edelbrock?

I bought my 1406 carb rebuilt, but it doesn't have a choke. I want to install a manual choke, but I can't find a kit for this. All I find is an electric choke conversion.

Does anyone know where I can find what I need to install a manual choke?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need anything, just remove the electric choke and linkage, and plug the vacuum port.

Are you saying I don't need a choke at all? I don't know much about carbs, but mine never had a choke of any kind (at least since I've had it). Will the carb function without a choke?

No, to operate the choke manually you only need to take the electric parts off.

Re: Manual Choke for Edelbrock?

Not trying to beat a dead horse, the only thing is there was never an electric component to remove, so I think I may be missing some basic parts. Here's a pic of the carb. Is there supposed to be a rod that goes in the circled area? Also, is that rod all I would need for a manual choke to work?

If anyone has any pics of a "complete" edelbrock, that would be great, too.

I have the same problem. my idea was to somehow set up a manual choke and run it though the firewall and have a lever inside the car. i think we have to recreate the linkage the works the thottle but just on the other side. on the passange side top lever

That's what I was thinking too, but Apeiron's post confused me a little. It seems to say there doesn't need to be a linkage or anything. I need a little moe clarification...I am a carb moron...

I was thinking of the 1405 with the electric choke.

Re: Manual Choke for Edelbrock?

Just go to the parts store and buy a choke cable and a choke cable mounting bracket. You run it to the choke lever. When you pull the cable it closes it when you push it in it opens the choke back up.

exactly the same thing that i was going to reccomend, but your carb never came with a choke so you willl have to buy the choke "flap" also if you know what im talking about

Re: Manual Choke for Edelbrock?

Edelbrock has never made a carb without a choke.

Re: Manual Choke for Edelbrock?

i apologize i was thinking of the wrong thing, you only need to pick up a universal choke cable kit at almost any auto parts store.
