mallory problem.. and loud knocking

mallory problem.. and loud knocking
im looking for the vent line, im coverting from tpi to carb and not sure where this line is that i need to hookup to the charcoal canister, any help would be appreciated. should the fuel pressure be constant. the gauge read 3psi, but when you give it gas would jump... its a mallory regulator 4309... what psi should i be trying to get with a 305 stock?

didnt want to double post but can anyone tell me how they connected the malory 4309 to the stock lines without hacking them up? ive looked at the other thread with all the pictures of peoples installations but im still not sure what they used.

Earl's makes an adapter that'll turn the Saginaw fitting on the end of the hard line into AN. I don't remember the part number offhand.

have attached pics of what I did...to connect to the stock fittings you need a special end, not a regular compression fitting. Dorman sells replacement pieces available from Rockauto.com, this will take you from the stock lines to a 3/8 compression..good luck

You mean the set pressure? 4-6 psi.

sorry, im used to rfd... umm so should the pressure on the regulator be constant because mine was jumping between 3 and 6? anyone know what would cause that? also ive been unable to find the stock vent line for the fuel tank, does anyone have a picture or could tell me where it is, i need to hook it back up to the black canister

well so far i have gone to the wreckers and pulled the alternator bracket for a carb engine but that doesnt fit my alternator, i also grabbed the bracket for the throttle and kickdown. My question is how should i mount it so that i dont burn out whats left of the tranny? the throttle should mount fine, its abit snug getting it on that bolt shown in the picture but ill work it over. I am just unsure of how i should mount the kickdown. so if anyone has used one of these brackets before and can chime in it would be appreciated. The brackets holley sells i cant get for 4 weeks apparently and i need the car running before then. pics are below. i also have the throttle cable and kickdown cable from the carb camaro if i should use those let me know

ok so my father and i were trying to get the car to run, and for wahtever reason it wont idle, so hes giving it gas, and after abit a loud knocking occurs. sounds like it may be a vale problem ive take off the valve covers but doesnt seem to be any broken springs....
does anyone know why the car wont idle? and what would cause the loud knocking. at this point more then likely timming may be out. but it seems if it could be a valvetrain problem...
umm also what about the vacuum on the passengers side of the car at the front of the carb, should i be plugging that into the the mallory by a vacuum tube? when thats plugged in the fuel pressure psi is like fairly steady at 3, while if i unplug it the fuel pressure goes up to 6-7 but is very erradic.
as i said earlier the car dies unless its giving gas so that its near 2000rpm.

ok so apparently im an idiot and didnt notice a massive vacuum, so now it is running, but does have a loud knock...the sound does seem to be louder from the block then the valves with the stethoscope. anyone can give me an idea of what to look for?
also another problem is this mallory regulator, it appears to be leaking into what i thought i read was a vacuum at the top of it. i think its the vacuum boost. i have a hose running on it to the carb and its filling with gas and sealant. so can some one explain why its doing this and how to fix it...as it stinks and is tossing the psi way off. when it can get a vacuum the psi was stable, but then it filled with gas and went all erratic.
