Cylinders fill with gas

I just did a tbi to carb swap when I first cranked it over my starter just clicked like my battery was dead. I pulled my spark plugs and cylinders that were opened were filled with gas causing it to hydraulic. I have a fuel pressure regulator and gauge it's running at 6 pounds of pressure. It has a Carter 4 barrel on an edelbrock performer dual plane intake. I put new plugs in kicked the pump on for maybe three or four seconds cranked it just clicking haven't pulled the plugs yet but I know they are full again. Is it possibly something wrong with my carb it is new to me but I have seen it run in my friends truck. Thanks guys for any help already tired of pulling plugs with headers in the way!!!!

try adjusting your floats in your carb. A lot of times they will not allow the needle to seat and close off the fuel supply.

I rebuilt the carb today the seats held it didn't fill the cylinders. When I cranked it over caught the carb on fire. Hopefully can set the timing tommorow and get it straightened out.

carefull, dont want to blow the valves. i rebuilt a vw carb. same issue with gas in cylinders/oil. there was a loose jet or somekind of loose screw. after the carb rebuild the gas didnt drain. as a precaution the guy parks backwards in the driveway. with carbs, the syphoning effect is an issue if the needle valve doesnt seat. also i would install a mechanical fuel pump or put a regulator on the fuel pump you got.

Re: Cylinders fill with gas

I have a regulator in line. Igot it running today all the hard work finally paid off. It sounds so sweet with all the new mods. But my front main is leaking really bad so I will move it to my buddies shop and pull it out and do it right. I need to replace the oil pan and I hope to put in a stall convertor too.
