NO!!

keep the tpi. You will not benefit swapping to a carb.

I did the TPI to carb swap and hated it. Lost so much torque and was way less unreliabe then TPI so now I get the honor of putting the old TPI engine back in and Reqire the whole motor and everything

An '89 Camaro RS is TBI, unless someone went to the trouble to convert it over to TPI.

I was thinking that, but I wasnt for sure, so I didnt mention it.

Either way, there is no benefit. Keep the car fuel injected.

Re: tpi to carb is it worth it

Im in the same boat...just about to pull my 305 tbi and replace it with a 350 out of early 90's truck. Isnt it a lot easier and cheaper just to go carb'd, rather than messing with the wiring harness, ecm etc etc...?

Are you going with a stock rebuild? if you are, then you dont have to swap anything. A stock 350 will run just fine with the 305 tbi. I bought a 90RS with the 305 tbi a few years back. Motor had been run without oil. I had a 350 block that I rebuilt, reused the 305 heads, rv cam, 305 tbi unit. Car ran great. Was not a powerhouse, it wasnt built for that purpose, but it ran better then a stock 305 and it was a good driving car.

Re: tpi to carb is it worth it

I made a mistake my camaro is TBI . I bought the car not running these people tried to fix it themselves so the distributor wasnt bolted in and countless things were lose so I got under it to see where an oil leak was coming from and I seen #1 and#3 cylinders connecting rod shot out of the oil pan. I wanted a bigger moter anyways. I am thinking abot a 350,383/or if it would fit a 427 or a 454
