Intake Manifold Question...

How does the factory-original L-69 intake manifold compare with the Edelbrock Performer (the regular Performer, NOT the "RPM")? Is there any significant performance difference between the two?...

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

Not sure, but I am wanting to say that all small blocks had the same 4bbl intake. This being the case, I imagine anything aftermarket is better than stock. We had an 82 z28 with the standard performance 305 4bbl in it and we changed the intake out for a Holley Street Dominator intake and had excellent erpformance out of it coupled with a Holley Street Avenger carb.

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

The factory aluminum manifold is more or less equal to the base Performer intake.

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

Not a lot of difference to be had between the stock manifold and the Performer. The Performer RPM is a bit of an upgrade.

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

there are differences in stock manifolds for instance the l-69 motor had the aluminum intake from the factory not every v8 had one most were cast ,and to answer ur compare ? yes the edelbrock performer will add a signifficant amout of low end torqe to the 305 over the stocker if ur goin for emissions legal u need a performer egr part 3701 if no emissions part2101

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

btw dont go with the rpm u will lose much low end power those manifolds are for 1500-6500 rpm band plus if u have a stock hood u will possibly end up with clearence issues

Re: Intake Manifolf Question...

The "RPM" is not an option. I was interested strictly in any comparison between the stock L-69 4V aluminum intake, and the standard Edelbrock "Performer" manifold. They don't appear to be all that different, but I know that appearances don't always tell the whole story...
