ok guys i tryed searching and i can not pin point what im looking for i have a 89 rs tbi on a built 305. im looking to pull out the engine this winter and drop in my 383 stroker nitrous motor. im looking to get rid of the computer all together, what i need to know is where to cut the harness off at i would like to keep head lights tail lights turn signals fuel pump, im doing all autometer gauges so im not worried about any of that either. i have only done this is older trucks that are carb already im not a fan of wires. any help would be great. the engine will be obviously carb so im trying to make it look as clean as can be.

The entire pass side wiring harness can be removed - you can disconnect it at the connector in the pass wheel well if you like.

BUT - you might want to leave it, and tuck it in the fenderwell for the time being. Gives you alot of wires to use for things like manual fan switches, underhood lighting and such. I'm always using those wires, as they are already a great source of wires from cabin to engine bay without having to rerun my own. The whole harness will tuck in the fenderwell sight unseen. Then you can cut out what you don't want after you get everything set up the way you want.

that is a good point pre ran wires are handy to have. i notice you are runing a carb as for distribrator just a vac advance correct like a nice msd will be fine?

Yep. I'm just running a brown-cap Accell. I think I need new springs to get some more advance, but I haven't figured all that out yet exactly. But she drives fine daily (although a tad rich). If I had $4000 of motor to worry about, I'd do more on tuning - but my old $600 carb-to-pan 350 I dropped in 4 years ago is running fine for what it is. And ALOT more fun than the 305 TBI was!
