Air gap fit?

Air gap fit?

Will a edelbrock air gap intake w a edelbrock performer carb fit under the stock hood of my 86 Iroc z

The airgap will work if you get a drop base air cleaner. Otherwise you'll need to get some sort of cowl induction hood for it to clear.

Yes, it will. The Air Gap RPM is the same height as a Performer RPM, and many of us have a Performer RPM under s astock hood.

The drop-base ... I didn't like it - have to use a 1/2 inch spacer for it to clear the linkage, then use a 2 1/2 inch element for it to fit - then it still rubs the ign wires at the distributor. After all that - when you look in the side, you'll see there's very little space for air to actually flow (because it drops so much).

I went with a Spectre 9inch non-drop. It does not drop, so no linkage/choke worries, fits great with the 2 inch element it comes with giving you a full 2 inches of airflow all around, and at only 9 inches, you see more engine and no ign wire rubbing issues. They are on the shelf at AutoZone for $29 with a rechargeable (like K&N) filter.
