bit of a n00b question

ive owned my camaro for about a year now but honestly have only driven it maybe 20 times, due to the PO not doing a good job on the wiring and such, it was pretty embarrassing when people would ask me to pop the hood when i would stop and it was a mess, well ive got it to where i want it now and would like to drive it and show it off a bit, but while i was cleaning up the wiring i removed the old electric choke (holley 750 on a 358) as it was not working anyway and there was already a manual choke in place, so i just hooked up the linkage and called it a day, but the problem is when i turn it on i have to give it gas for a minute or 2 in order to keep it idling, i printed out the manual for the carb i have and it says i should have a "high speed idle" that would fix this while the choke is closed it should run off the high speed idle, but the picture in the manual shows it as part of the electric choke, i went out and looked at mine and the adjustment screw is still there but it doesnt seem to do anything, so is this an adjustment only for elec. chokes? thanks in advance for any help!

heres a pic from a few weeks ago, ive cleaned it up a little bit more, but no pics

Re: bit of a n00b question

you can always put a working electric choke on it, its just 1 wire that needs to be hooked up, run it out of site and it wont affect the looks of the engine bay.
