I need some help
So i just picked up a 86 I-roc z about 2 months ago, I traded a guy off craigslist for my 95 Bronco on 35's.
Yeah theres a few things wrong with the car but ****, parts are so cheap!
So right now im having a problem, my carb is way to big for my 350 small block. I get a huge amount of lagg when i get up in the rpm's, i can really only have the car at half the pedal through. It will sit there and backfire while my rpm's SLOWLYYYYYYYY climb. I through some hotter plugs in it and a new fuel pump since mine sputtered gas all over itself, but i still need less carb.
I have a Weber 650 in my garage that i got from a friend, would that be a good match for my engine?

Car: A lousy LS1 car
Engine: 347 Cu. In.
Transmission: Which One?
Re: I need some help
We'll need more info to answer your question.
Is the original factory 350 in the car?
What carb is on the motor?
What makes you think the carb is too big?

Re: I need some help
I have no idea what year the engine is, but the guy i got it from swapped it in.
And the reason its the carb is because
1. My car reaks of gas
2. It bogs out when i put my foot to the floor

What carb do you have? What distributor does it have?
We can't provide help until you provide information.
Most likely your carb isn't "too big", but just needs some help. A "Weber 650" probably isn't the answer.

Then take a picture and post it.
Aftermarket carb and stock distributor don't play well together. It will run poorly, no power, run rich...

Re: I need some help
just a thought, but in my younger learning years i found out that you get this same effect when you go from a 2 barrel to a 4 because the heads and valves are too small. So was your car a TBI car,or a carb car originally,................

That can be a power potential problem, but not produce the symptoms described.

That's a non-computer quadrajet and a non-computer distributor.
Start with ignition timing. You should have around 12 degrees BTDC at idle with vacuum advance disconnected. If you set it at zero like the sticker says, the engine will be a dog.
After you have that set right (assuming the plugs, wires, cap, rotor are all in good condition), then read through this: https://www.thirdgen.org/quadrajet Although the title says "computer-controlled", everything applies until the last part about "other tuning for Camaros and Firebirds". One thing I see in your pictures is the accelerator pump rod is in the outer hole - you'll get a better accelerator pump shot with it in the inner hole.
That carb is not too big for a 350. It just needs to be properly set so it can operate correctly. The Weber would be a serous downgrade (and probably won't bolt to the intake manifold).

Oh, it appears the choke is tied open with a nylon tie. Get rid of that tie. If the choke isn't working properly, then fix what's wrong. Tying it open is just wrong-headed.
I can't see from your pics if the link between the choke pull-off ("vacuum break") is there. If not, then replace it. The pull-off is part of the "quadrabog mitigation" hardware (what you are describing is classic quadrabog).

Re: I need some help
Choke is set like that because its a manual choke, the guy didnt hook it up. So thats the only way i can start it in the morning.
We adjusted the throw so it would guzzle less gas

Unless it's been gutted, all of the electric choke parts appear to be there.
In the attached pic, where do the lines go that are circled? Not properly routed could be part of your problems.

Re: I need some help
The accelerator doesn't guzzle gas. It will fix part of your problem. I would trade a .25 mpg loss foe a car that runs right. And +2 on getting the choke working.
