Re: carb question

Yes it has to be plugged in. Yes ticking is normal. You could downgrade to a non-feedback carb but not without making other changes as well.

Re: carb question

You'd lose computer control of timing, so you'd have to replace the distributor as well. If it's an automatic transmission, you'll also need to take care of the torque converter clutch lockup without the computer.

It'll run rich all the time with the carb unplugged. You'll have to plug it in and see what happens to start figuring out what's wrong with the system.

Re: carb question

His computer isn't controlling the transmission. It used to control the TCC, but not anymore.

Re: carb question

You can run a regular carb and leave the computer hooked up to control lockup and timing. No need for a new distributor. What is clicking, the carb or starter when you try to start?

No, you can't. Without the carb connected the computer will enter limp mode and refuse to control lockup and timing.

Re: carb question

Always worked on MCSS and they run the same CCC and Computer. But I won't argue the point.

Re: carb question

the cheapest way for u is to give the car for diagnostic...they will tell u what needs to be replaced...and u should rebuild the carb

The clicking is the Mixture Control Solenoid clicking...it'll do that. that's what meteres the fuel at part throttle. It should stop being an audible click after 30 seconds or so. Since it doesn't, I'd start there with wha'ts wrong. If it ever DOESN"T do that when you turn the car on, then you've got more issues to figure out.
