Choke Problems

So I don't know if there is a thread for this already and I do not feel like an extensive manhunt for one. I have a Holley fourbarrel carb on an 85 Camaro. The electronic choke does not work. I have taken apart the electronic [sensor?] and reset the spring to automatically open the choke when the engine heats up. The choke will still not open on its own and after about 30 minutes of driving I have to pull over and reset it manually.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do, or any tips to converting it to an in dash manual choke?

Re: Choke Problems

First check the fuse block for any blown fuses. If all is good, then see if you have voltage the the choke thermostat connector. If you do, its most likely a bad choke thermostat. If there is no power at the connector, check for power at the choke heater relay under the dash. Its on the same block as the signal flashers. If you have power there, but not at the connector, then the relay is most likely bad, assuming you don't have any opens in the wire.
