E4ME Primary Metering Rod Springs - MCS Lean Screw

I'm guessing the springs for the metering rods are supposed to be equal lengths. Which length is it between my two and where can I get a new pair?

For bench setting the Lean Mixture screw (see pic), how many turns out do I go?

In the second picture the spring on the left: correct, spring on the right: fail. Get a junkyard cc-QJet and swipe the springs out of it. Having a spare parts carb helps in all sorts of situations. Plus it's cheaper than buying individual parts. Not even sure if the springs are available separately.

4 turns up from lightly seated is where you start on the lean stop adjustment screw. You'll usually find it about 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 turns up in an unmolested factory original carb.

Thanks. I'll set it to that.

As far as a spare carb, I have one, but it's not electric so no springs .
And my local JY does not stock carbs. Double

carbs unlimited has replacement primary springs, if you need new. I'm getting used to opening used carbs and finding one or both of these fubar lately.

The MCS spring is another part I'm often finding broken.

Re: E4ME Primary Metering Rod Springs - MCS Lean Screw

That's why I like having a few junkyard Qjets of various kinds laying around. You can sometimes buy a whole box of them at a swap meet for $20. More than pay for themselves with all the parts you swipe off them.

But if that's not readily available to you..... $20 for a set of springs is the price you pay, I guess. GM hasn't put a QJet on a production car or truck in over 20 years. It's not like they make much in the way of new parts for them nowadays.

A junkyard Qjet would be about awesome right now.

I think I lost the damn TPS pin/plunger/rod thing.

Can any of you guys get the diameter and length of your pins?

Top left.

Ain't that easy in the city. Hell, it's pretty hard anywhere in my area.
The only yard I know that would have it is 2+ hours out.

Thanks man. It's all good. My mom found it in the newspaper I threw out. I was using it as a sheet and I guess the plunger rolled off to the side and I didn't catch it.

For the sake of it, I'll take some dimensions and post it when I get home.
