Choke light
Hi I have an 87 Camaro LG4 factory carb no mods. I noticed when ever I have to stop quickly my choke light comes on. sometimes it goes off immediately sometimes it will stay on for a while. Also sometimes the oil pressure gauge will drop to zero. the same time the light comes on. I did a search, but the threads i found were saying they had a buzzing sound, but i have no sound at all just he light. thanks

Re: Choke light
"Choke" light is really the "Alternator" light.
OP dropping to zero and Alt light coming on are consistent with engine RPM dropping very low.
Sounds more or less normal for an old wore-out carb that needs some repair and/or tuning.
"Buzzing sound" is when the diode trio in the alt is bad, such that it works 2/3 of the time. (It's 3-phase) Relay is released during the proportion of the time that it works (2 out of 3 of the diodes in the diode trio are still good), but operates during the 1/3 of the time that the alt produces nothing (3rd diode in the diode trio is bad). Doesn't sound like that's your problem, just, your RPMs go so low the alt can't do anything. Underdrive pulleys would aggravate it if you had those.

Re: Choke light
thanks. The carb isn't worn out I just completely rebuilt it a year ago. It is tuned so well I don't even have to touch the gas to start it i just flick the key, and she fires right up. The alt. is about 10 years old so it makes since that is is going bad. oh well added to the list of thing this car needs. LOL
