307 with q-jet
i have a 307 going into a 83 z28 with a t5, my question is can i use the ccc quadrajet without any changes? or will i have to rejet? the 307 has a 2bbl and is supposed to have 10:1 pistons in it but i kinda have my doubts, how can i know for sure? can i tell with a compression test? or what else can i do to see, the motor does look like it was appart not too long ago

awesome this is a slightly drawn out project but everythign was so perfectly intact when i began pulling the 305 i want it all back on there and to look stock except im guna remove the a i r what do i have to do besides unbolt everything? i have a set of manifolds without the air tubes already, will it throw codes? any other things i have to do to make it all work right?

If you block off the EGR and remove the EGR valve itself, keep the electrical connector for it plugged in and you won't throw any codes.
You may need to re-tune the carb a bit though because it'll be factory tuned to expect the EGR and AIR. If you pull everything and don't get any codes for it though, then don't worry about it.
I did the AIR delete but I retrofitted a serpentine belt on my 84. I got the AIR delete pully, pulled the hoses and blocked off the AIR tubes on my headers and that was it. I didn't even have to re-tune my Qjet.
I do run a heated O2 sensor though, I think those are kind of mandatory with headers.
Re: 307 with q-jet
it has v belts and do i have to do the egr delete when removing air pump?? what are the pros/cons of doing egr delete if its not 'required' when removing pump?, iv heard it doesnt really rob too much hp in the higher rpms, as it only recirculates exhaust gasses at cruising speeds increasing fuel mileage for daily driving? is this true? (please, no one qoute me on any of this lol)

The A.I.R. and EGR have nothing to do with each other.
Deleting A.I.R. does nothing to the emissions system but making your car illegal.
If you delete or defeat EGR, the ECM may set a code, but it probably won't turn on the SES light. At least, mine didn't.
To test the effect of A.I.R. on performance, I made had made a bunch of runs with it functioning, then took the belt off the pump and left it off. Didn't make a lick of difference on ET or MPH. I did find out later, though, that not having the pump operating but still in the system froze it up (exhaust leakage back into the pump), so I had to replace it when it came time to go through emissions again.
