ALTERNATOR WIRING PLEASE HELP!!
I just completed a fuel inject 2.8 to carbed 350 swap in my 1988 Camaro. the 350 is from a 91 Camaro that was swapped into a 92 Camaro. my alternator plug had three wires coming off of it, a red wire with a fuseable link, a brown wire to the junction block on the drivers side, and a tan wire that I am not aware of where it went, I think the ecm. I plugged that in and the battery was not charging. I took the plug off the 92 Camaro that had two wires, one to the starter, and one to the junction block on drives side, and put that in. and it is still not charging. I have 12.4 volts on the battery and the battery terminal on the back of the alternator so that wire is fine. I painted the brackets that hold the alternator so I was wondering if there was a case ground that make not be serving as a ground from the paint, because I am pretty sure the alternator is a working unit. if anyone has any suggestions on what tot try before I buy a new alternator please let me know.

Re: ALTERNATOR WIRING PLEASE HELP!!
I literally just fixed this same issue on Saturday. I ran the red to the post on the back of the alternator, ignore the tan/white, and i soldered in a 470ohm 1/2 watt resistor in the brown one and ran that to a 12V ign feed. Charging system works like a charm now.
